Why Kids Keep Asking for Dinosaurs, Cars, and the Same Pictures

Published Updated

Parents often notice the same pattern. A child likes dinosaurs, and suddenly everything needs to be a dinosaur. The books, toys, drawings, stickers, and coloring pages all start to look very similar.

Adults can get tired of repetition quickly, but children often enjoy returning to the same subject and changing one small part of it. Today the dinosaur is at school. Tomorrow it is on the moon. Next week it might be driving a bus.

That is also why custom coloring pages can be interesting for children. The subject does not have to change every time. The child can keep the dinosaur, unicorn, car, or cat they already love and simply imagine a new situation around it.

We see this often with SayDraw. The first request may be very simple. “A dinosaur.” The next one becomes “a dinosaur eating cake.” Then “a dinosaur eating cake with a tiny cat.” One familiar interest can keep producing new ideas for quite a long time.
